Neolithic

7000–3500 BCE

The Neolithic is the period of the first farming in Europe, from the Balkans and the Linearbandkeramik to the megalith builders of the Atlantic coast and the henges of Britain. Polished stone axes, pottery and long houses are its markers. In the Near East it begins earlier, with Göbekli Tepe and Çatalhöyük among the sites.
