Early Medieval

500–1000 CE

Early Medieval spans the migration period, the Anglo-Saxon and Frankish kingdoms, the Vikings and the Carolingians, from the fall of Rome to about 1000. Furnished graves, brooches, sceattas and pennies and hack-silver are the finds. The alias Dark Ages is obsolete but widely used.
