Giza
Dynastic Egypt, 2600–2450 BCE
Giza is the necropolis of the Fourth Dynasty on the plateau west of Cairo, with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and fields of mastaba tombs built around 2600 to 2450 BCE. The Great Pyramid was the tallest structure on earth for nearly four thousand years.

What was found
Excavations recovered the Khufu solar boats, the statues of Khafre and Menkaure, the tomb of Hetepheres with her furniture, thousands of mastaba reliefs and the workers' town with bakeries and barracks. The solar boats and the Hetepheres furniture are in the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Rules
Nothing may be collected, dug, moved or removed at Giza; it is a protected archaeological site managed by Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Supreme Council of Antiquities, and taking artifacts, stones or samples is an offence. Egyptian law vests all antiquities in the state, and removal or export is a crime. This article is for study and context only and is not a collecting locality.
