Chalcolithic

4500–2300 BCE

The Chalcolithic, or Copper Age, sees the first copper metallurgy in Europe alongside continued stone tools, and includes the Corded Ware and Bell Beaker phenomena that reshaped European populations. Battle-axes, flat copper axes and beakers are the common finds. It grades into the Early Bronze Age.
