Ammonoid
Discoscaphites
Scaphite ammonite
Discoscaphites is the last scaphitid, a Maastrichtian ammonite that survived to the K–Pg boundary and is found in the Fox Hills, Ripley, Coon Creek and New Jersey greensands, often with its nacreous shell intact. Its nodose, compressed whorls distinguish it from Hoploscaphites. It is one of the few ammonites whose extinction can be tied directly to the impact.
