Bandelier
Ancestral Puebloan, 1150–1550 CE
Bandelier protects the cliff dwellings and pueblos of Frijoles Canyon on the Pajarito Plateau, occupied by Ancestral Puebloans from about 1150 to 1550 before they moved to the Rio Grande pueblos. Cavate rooms were carved into the soft volcanic tuff.

What was found
Excavations at Tyuonyi and the cavate dwellings recovered Biscuit ware and Santa Fe black-on-white pottery, obsidian arrowpoints from the Jemez sources, manos and metates, turkey bones and petroglyphs. Long House preserves painted plaster.
Rules
Nothing may be collected, dug, moved or removed at Bandelier; it is a protected archaeological site managed by National Park Service, and taking artifacts, stones or samples is an offence. Federal, state and tribal law, including ARPA and NAGPRA where applicable, protect the site and its burials. Bandelier is the ancestral home of several Rio Grande pueblos. This article is for study and context only and is not a collecting locality.
