Early Horizon

900–200 BCE

The Early Horizon in the Andes is defined by the spread of the Chavín cult and art style from Chavín de Huántar across the central Andes. Monochrome stirrup-spout bottles, gold sheet ornaments and early textiles belong to it. The period ends as regional styles such as Paracas diversify.
