Old Babylonian

2000–1600 BCE

The Old Babylonian period is the age of Hammurabi and his law code, with Babylon as the capital of southern Mesopotamia. Cuneiform tablets, mould-made terracotta plaques and haematite cylinder seals are abundant finds. It also covers the Isin-Larsa phase.
