Taylor
8000–7000 BCE, Archaic (Eastern)
Taylor was defined by Michie in 1966 from the Taylor site in Lexington County, South Carolina, and is the Early Archaic side-notched form of the Carolinas and Georgia, contemporary with Bolen in Florida and Big Sandy in Tennessee. Coastal Plain chert, Allendale chert and quartz are the usual materials.

Diagnostic traits
Side-notched point with a straight to slightly concave ground base, narrow notches, and a triangular blade frequently beveled and serrated.
Identification
Taylor overlaps Bolen and Big Sandy almost completely in form; assignment is largely by region. Palmer and Kirk are corner rather than side notched, and later Halifax is thicker with shallow notches and a narrow blade.
Reproductions and fakes
Not widely reproduced; the concern is misattribution of Big Sandy or Bolen from other states. Genuine points show basal grinding and Coastal Plain chert weathering.
