Ensor

The Ensor point is a Transitional Archaic point of Central and South Texas, about 500 BCE to 300 CE, among the last dart points before the bow. It is small and variable in notching. Most are in Edwards chert.

Diagnostic traits
Small to medium point with shallow side or corner notches and a wide expanding stem; base straight or concave.
Identification
Ensor has shallow side or corner notches and a wide expanding stem with a straight or concave base, and is smaller than Castroville and Marcos; Frio has a notched base and Fairland a flaring base. It is thicker than arrowpoints of similar size. Ensor-Frio intermediates occur.
Reproductions and fakes
Ensor points are not faked. They are often misidentified as arrowpoints, but genuine pieces are thick relative to their size.
