Seirocrinus subangularis
Colonial crinoid
Seirocrinus subangularis is the giant pseudoplanktonic crinoid of the Holzmaden Posidonia Shale, whose colonies with stems up to 20 m hung from driftwood logs and sank together. The Hauff Museum's colony is the largest fossil slab in the world; commercial slabs range from single crowns to multi-metre wall pieces. Slabs are backed, edged and consolidated, and the stems frequently have gaps filled; ask what percentage is original.
