Pterodactylus antiquus is the first pterosaur ever described (1784) and the small short-tailed pterosaur of the Solnhofen and Eichstätt Plattenkalk. Complete juveniles are the most often sold pterosaur fossils and change hands for five- and six-figure sums; partial wings and isolated bones are more affordable. Restoration of bones across a split is common and must be disclosed.
