Olenellus

Early Cambrian trilobite

Olenellus is the early Cambrian redlichiid with crescentic eyes, long genal spines and a tiny tail, found in the Pioche Shale of Nevada, the Latham Shale of California and the Kinzers Formation of Pennsylvania. It is an index fossil for the Cambrian Series 2 and a desirable specimen because complete examples are scarce. Nevada material from BLM land may be collected casually but not sold.
