Enchodus

Sabre-toothed herring

Enchodus is the fanged Cretaceous–Paleocene fish whose long, slightly curved palatine teeth and jaw sections are among the commonest vertebrate fossils from the Moroccan phosphates, Kansas chalk and New Jersey greensands. Single fangs are cheap; jaws with the fang in place are attractive small display pieces. Moroccan jaws are sometimes mounted on carved matrix.
