Woolly rhinoceros

Coelodonta antiquitatis, the woolly rhinoceros, is the Pleistocene rhino of Eurasia whose teeth, jaws and bones come from Siberian permafrost, the North Sea Doggerland dredgings and European river gravels. Its high-crowned, cement-covered teeth are distinctive; North Sea material is dark brown and often sold by Dutch dealers. Rhino horn is keratin and does not fossilise, and modern rhino horn is strictly CITES Appendix I.
