The Japanese period of keyhole-shaped burial mounds and the rise of the Yamato state, between the Yayoi period and the Asuka period that begins with Buddhism in 538. It corresponds in time to the Chinese Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Korean Three Kingdoms.
