Grossular is calcium aluminium garnet in brown, orange (hessonite), green (tsavorite), pink and white; the Jeffrey Mine at Asbestos, Quebec, produced the finest orange and pink crystals, and Sierra de Cruces (Mexico) supplies cheap raspberry-pink dodecahedra. Green massive grossular from Africa is sold as 'Transvaal jade'. It is often confused with vesuvianite from the same skarns.
