Anatase

Anatase is the tetragonal dipyramidal polymorph of titanium dioxide, found as small blue, brown or black bipyramids in Alpine clefts (Binntal, Switzerland), Hardangervidda (Norway) and Pakistan. It is a thumbnail-collector's mineral; sharp blue Norwegian crystals on quartz are the finest. Its steep bipyramids distinguish it from rutile prisms.
