Treasure Act and the PAS
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, finds that meet the Treasure definition (precious-metal objects over 300 years old, hoards, and from 2023 significant finds of any metal) must be reported within fourteen days; the Portable Antiquities Scheme records everything else voluntarily and gives each find a public reference.
