Rechipping

Modern re-flaking of an ancient point to sharpen its edges, restore a broken tip, or improve its shape for sale. The fresh scars are brighter than the patinated surface, and the trade treats an undisclosed rechip as fraud; Stratum's record carries an explicit “rechipped” flag that prints on the label and the certificate.
