Fluorescence

Emission of visible light while a mineral is illuminated by ultraviolet light, caused by activator elements; fluorite, calcite, willemite, scheelite and many amber and opal specimens fluoresce.

Emission of visible light while a mineral is illuminated by ultraviolet light, caused by activator elements; fluorite, calcite, willemite, scheelite and many amber and opal specimens fluoresce. Short-wave (254 nm) and long-wave (365 nm) UV give different responses.
