Ethnographic material

Objects made and used by living cultures within recent generations — baskets, weavings, beadwork, carvings, masks — as opposed to archaeological material recovered from the ground. The law that governs it is the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, NAGPRA's sacred-object clause and the CPIA's ethnological lists, not ARPA.
