Casual collecting
The federal term (43 CFR 49) for what a private person may do on BLM and Forest Service land: collect a reasonable amount (25 lb/day, 100 lb/year) of common invertebrate and plant fossils with hand tools, with negligible disturbance, for non-commercial personal use.
