Logan Creek
7000–5500 BCE, Plains Archaic
Logan Creek takes its name from the Logan Creek site in Burt County, Nebraska, excavated by Kivett, whose stratified bison-hunting camp defines the Early Plains Archaic Logan Creek complex. Points of the same form occur at the Simonsen site in Iowa and across the eastern Plains from South Dakota to Kansas. Smoky Hill jasper, Knife River flint and Permian cherts are typical.

Diagnostic traits
Small, thin side-notched point with narrow notches placed low, a straight to slightly concave ground base, and a triangular blade.
Identification
Logan Creek is smaller and thinner than most eastern side-notched points and lacks the deep basal concavity of Graham Cave. Simonsen points are essentially the same form; later Plains Side-notched arrow points are much smaller and thinner.
Reproductions and fakes
Not reproduced; genuine examples show basal grinding and jasper weathering.
