Kosmoceras
Oxford Clay ammonite
Kosmoceras is the tuberculate Callovian ammonite of the Oxford Clay, preserved crushed and pyritised in the Peterborough brick pits, often with the lappets of the microconch intact. It is the characteristic fossil of that clay, cheap when found and unstable in humid storage. Uncrushed Kosmoceras from the Weymouth coast are rarer.
