Calymene
Calymenid trilobite
Calymene is the Silurian calymenid with a bell-shaped glabella and small eyes; C. niagarensis from the Waldron Shale and Rochester Shale, and C. blumenbachii, the 'Dudley Bug' of England, are the collector species. The Moroccan 'Calymene' sold cheaply by the thousand are Ordovician Flexicalymene from the Ktaoua beds and are often cast in resin; genuine ones show shell texture and a natural matrix break.
