Troy
3000 BCE–500 CE
Troy is the mound of Hisarlık near the Dardanelles, occupied from about 3000 BCE to the Roman period in nine superimposed cities, identified by Schliemann in 1871 as Homer's Troy. The Late Bronze Age Troy VI and VIIa are the candidates for the Trojan War.

What was found
Schliemann's excavations recovered 'Priam's Treasure' of gold and silver from Troy II, and later work distinguished nine cities, with Troy VI's great walls, Troy VIIa's destruction layer, Mycenaean pottery, and the Hellenistic and Roman city of Ilion. Priam's Treasure is in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
Rules
Nothing may be collected, dug, moved or removed at Troy; it is a protected archaeological site managed by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and taking artifacts, stones or samples is an offence. Turkish law vests all antiquities in the state, and removal or export is a crime. This article is for study and context only and is not a collecting locality.
