The Parthian, or Arsacid, empire ruled Iran and Mesopotamia between the Seleucids and the Sasanians, rivalling Rome. Silver drachms, glazed pottery, small bronzes and Hatra sculpture are typical. Its art blends Hellenistic and Iranian traditions.
