Dolomite
CaMg(CO3)2
Dolomite is calcium magnesium carbonate, crystallising as curved, saddle-shaped pearly rhombs in white, pink or grey; the pink saddles of Eugui (Spain) and the Tri-State district and the dolomite on Brazilian quartz are collector staples. It effervesces in acid only when powdered, unlike calcite. Dolomite rock (dolostone) is a common host of Mississippi Valley-type ore deposits.
