Provenience

Where an object was found — the site, the square, the layer, the feature — as opposed to provenance, which is who has owned it since.

Where an object was found — the site, the square, the layer, the feature — as opposed to provenance, which is who has owned it since. Archaeology uses the two words for different things; a dealer's record needs both, and Stratum's Find context card is provenience.
